چکیده انگلیسی:tThis study examines whether auditor economic independence affects the information con-tent of going concern audit reports in the European setting. We conduct an experimentwhere 80 experienced Spanish loan officers from the second largest European commercialbank review a loan request under two lending scenarios: (1) a potential borrower receivingan unqualified but modified going concern opinion, and (2) a potential borrower receivinga qualified going concern opinion. Auditor economic independence, measured by the pro-vision of non-audit services (NAS), is manipulated (absence vs. presence of significant NAS).We find that a qualified going concern audit report is interpreted as a primary warning signal(death penalty). However, the provision of NAS acts as a second order mechanism that onlyactivates loan officers’ professional skepticism in the case of an unqualified but modifiedgoing concern report scenario. Therefore, we find evidence suggesting that the potentialnegative impact of a perceived lack of auditor independence depends on the nature of theaudit report. Our findings have important implications for the European regulator, which iscurrently considering establishing an auditor independence regulation framework similarto that in the United States of America.

این مطالعه به بررسی این موضوع می پردازد که آیا استقلال اقتصادی حسابرس بر اطلاعات محتوایی گزارش حسابرسی سودآور بودن شرکت در تنظیمات اروپا تأثیر می گذارد یا خیر. آزمایشی را انجام دادیم که در آن 80 متصدی اسپانیایی با تجربه از دومین بانک بزرگ تجاری اروپا به بررسی درخواست وام تحت دو سناریو اعطای وام پرداختند: (1) یک وام گیرنده بالقوه یک عقیده فاقد صلاحیت را دریافت می کند و (2) یک وام گیرنده بالقوه یک عقیده دارای صلاحیت را دریافت
می کند.
